There are over 400,000 children in foster care in the United States, with over 14,000 of those being in the state of Missouri. As these young people approach legal adulthood, they face the unrealistic expectation that they will be able to succeed on their own when they turn 18. The truth is approximately half of all kids who age out of the system without a permanent place to call home, struggle with homelessness, poverty, and incarceration once exiting care. With this information in mind Grace Place was founded.
Foster parenting can be mentally and physically exhausting, emotionally draining and easily misunderstood. For this reason, Grace Place works to provide foster families, and those wishing to become foster families, with the resources needed to do so.
Grace Place is working to build a series of housing on one piece of property, each house consisting of one foster family. These houses are for long term placement and meant to create a stable environment for children within the foster care system.
